About Womens Studies at UB

The Department of Women’s Studies at UB is one of the oldest in the United States and is a leader in the development of interdisciplinary approaches to the field of gender studies. We offer an extensive number of courses that inspire students to explore a wide range of questions about gender as it impacts upon personal, social, cultural, and political life, both nationally and globally. Students both explore women and work; women’s global citizenship; gender representations in art and media; and reinterpretations of history through the lens of gender, race, class and ethnicity.
