About Environmental Design and Urban Planning at UB

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning, through its preprofessional undergraduate and professional graduate degree programs, offers students a breadth of knowledge on understanding urban and built environments, and teaches skills in information analysis, computing, written communications, and graphic techniques. In addition, the department offers specialized courses in land use, community design, property development, local government policy, economic development, environmental affairs, real estate development, urban finance, physical planning, historic preservation, urban design, and geographic information systems. The undergraduate preprofessional environmental design bachelor’s program and graduate professional urban planning master\'s program utilize the dynamic bi-national Buffalo-Niagara region as a laboratory for planning, design, and action. In addition, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning offers a dual master of architecture plus master of urban planning with the Department of Architecture, and a dual master of urban planning plus juris doctor degree with the Law School.
