About American Studies at UB
The field of American studies is broadly defined to include all the Americas: North, South, Central, Caribbean, and indigenous America. Students in this program integrate knowledge drawn from such diverse disciplines as history, English, art history, political science, African American studies, anthropology, modern languages and others into a unique synthesis based on their own interests and needs. Curricula are flexible, wide-ranging, and personalized, drawing upon the resources of the university, but given thematic emphases that allow students to study culture, society, environment, and economics in integrated and comprehensive ways.
